Ziarat, January 8
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Muhammad Riaz Khan Dawar chaired a District Polio Eradication Committee meeting to finalize arrangements for the four-day polio campaign starting February 2 in Ziarat and Sanjavi.
Officials reported that 27,000 children would be vaccinated. The deputy commissioner stressed that even a single missed child would undermine the campaign.
He urged parents, media, and civil society to support the effort, warning that polio continues to damage Pakistan’s global image. He called polio-free Pakistan a national vision requiring collective responsibility.
Irrigation Development Review Held in Naseerabad Division
Naseerabad, January 8
A monthly review meeting on irrigation development projects was held under the chairmanship of Superintending Engineer Irrigation Circle Naseerabad, Mudassar Zafar Khoso.
Officials reviewed progress on canal rehabilitation, water distribution, embankment strengthening, and cleaning works. The superintending engineer emphasized transparent utilization of development funds, calling them a national trust.
He instructed officers to conduct field inspections, monitor contractors closely, and ensure fair water distribution for farmers. Any negligence or delay, he warned, would not be tolerated.
