Quetta : Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Durra Baloch, has stated that the provincial government is working on a priority basis to promote sports in Balochistan, marking a historic achievement with the successful organization of various national-level competitions.
Speaking to a delegation of athletes, he highlighted the hosting of National Games for the first time, as well as All-Pakistan football, cricket, and volleyball tournaments, and assured that such activities will continue to expand. “We urge the public to support our athletes; we will never let them down,” he said.
He emphasized that the government is focused on promoting sports while simultaneously targeting drug dens across the province, a strategy that has already begun to show positive results. Durra Baloch stressed that encouragement must come from all sectors—whether football, cricket, or other games—to motivate young talent.
He praised the participation of top athletes from across the country in the recently held tournaments and thanked the Balochistan government, particularly the Sports Department, for successfully organizing these events.
On the allocation of funds, the Secretary made it clear that sports budgets will be spent solely on sports initiatives. “Those who expect these resources for personal gain are mistaken. We will never allow anyone else to compromise the interests of our athletes,” he added.
The statement reflects the provincial government’s strong commitment to nurturing talent, providing opportunities for youth, and using sports as a tool to promote social engagement and curb illicit activities.
