ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 :PM’s Coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Affairs, Ikhtiar Wali Khan on Monday confirmed that the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory (PFSL) has verified video footage showing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi present during the May 9 incidents in Peshawar and urged him to step down on ethical grounds.
While speaking exclusively to a local media channel, Ikhtiar Wali Khan stated that the PTI had repeatedly demanded any footage, images or evidence related to the May 9 incidents, adding, the recent forensic report has now confirmed the reality, showing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi along with others involved in the incidents.
In light of the verified evidence, he suggested that CM Afridi should step down on ethical grounds, as the matter constitutes a proven offense.
Responding to a question on PTI negotiations, he said that the Prime Minister had already extended offers for dialogue.
In a democratic process, the government is always willing to discuss election reforms, counter-terrorism and legislative amendments.
However, talks will not include individual requests, prisoner releases or personal demands.
He added that negotiations are currently being sought by PTI.
Wali further criticized that PTI’s demands or special programs will not be accommodated.
He added that if PTI wishes to pursue negotiations, they should approach the Speaker, who has the authority to initiate such discussions.
