Collective Resolve Key to Eradicating Extremism, Says DC Chaman at Global Observance

CHAMAN, Feb 12: Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Habib Ahmed Bangulzai, on Wednesday underscored the critical importance of unity, shared responsibility and active public engagement in confronting violent extremism and fostering enduring peace.
He delivered these remarks while chairing a seminar held in observance of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism on February 12. The gathering brought together senior government officials, tribal elders, political figures, representatives of civil society, journalists, members of the business community, teachers and individuals representing diverse schools of thought.
Addressing the participants, Bangulzai highlighted the significance of collective cooperation in strengthening state institutions. He stated that the state derives its strength from the inclusion and collaboration of its citizens, urging all segments of society to act with moderation, tolerance and a strong sense of responsibility to curb violence and extremism at every tier.
Among those in attendance were District Education Officer Abdul Quddus Achakzai, Deputy Mayor Municipal Corporation Matiullah, Accounts Officer Abdul Zahir Durrani, Naib Tehsildar Ahmed Khan, along with other officials and community leaders.
The deputy commissioner observed that the international day is marked across the globe to enhance awareness, promote preventive strategies and reinforce determination against violent extremism, while advancing efforts to build peaceful societies.
He noted that violence, extremism and terrorism have assumed alarming proportions worldwide, stressing that their eradication requires unified awareness, solidarity and purposeful action.
Referring to the broader framework for sustainable peace, Bangulzai pointed out that employment generation, access to quality education, improved healthcare services and balanced development are fundamental pillars in preventing radicalization.
He further stated that the Balochistan government’s BSDI initiatives have been structured to address these priorities, particularly by engaging youth in constructive pursuits and shielding communities from extremist tendencies.
Reaffirming his commitment to public service, the deputy commissioner said his office remains accessible to all citizens, emphasizing transparency and open communication.
The seminar concluded with special prayers for the country’s security, stability and prosperity. Participants collectively vowed to fulfill both individual and collective responsibilities in countering extremism and terrorism, and to contribute toward sustainable peace and national progress.
