Independent Report
Quetta, February 13, 2026: Authorities in Quetta Division have intensified efforts to eliminate illegal opium cultivation, targeting over 70,000 acres of land currently used for poppy farming. The crackdown is a coordinated operation involving the district administration, police, Frontier Corps, and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
Operations have so far led to the destruction of more than 150 tube wells and associated structures, confiscation of 1,316 solar panels and 300 water tanks, filing of multiple FIRs, and the addition of several individuals to the Fourth Schedule list.
Commissioner Shahzaib Khan Kakar has ordered all agencies to accelerate eradication activities to ensure crops are destroyed ahead of the March-April harvest. He stressed strict legal measures against offenders and instructed the ANF to complete surveys and submit detailed reports promptly.
Officials noted that the eradication campaign is in its initial phase, with further operations planned following comprehensive crop identification. The Commissioner emphasized that coordinated planning, vigilant monitoring, and timely enforcement are essential to fully eliminate narcotics cultivation across Quetta Division.
