Quetta, February 13, 2026: Secretary for Local Government and Rural Development, Abdul Rauf Baloch, has called for the strategic use of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) properties to generate revenue that directly benefits citizens, emphasizing transparency and efficiency in management.
Chairing a detailed review meeting, Abdul Rauf Baloch examined the legal status, leases, rents, and overall revenue potential of QMC assets. The session was attended by Chief Metropolitan Officer Nazar Zehri, Additional Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Sanaullah Qureshi, Administration Officer Mohammad Shahid, Legal Officer Abdullah Advocate, and other senior officials from QMC and the Local Government Department.
Officials briefed the Secretary on the current condition of properties, operational challenges, and opportunities to boost revenue streams. Highlighting the link between revenue generation and service delivery, Abdul Rauf Baloch stressed that increased funds would support essential initiatives, including clean drinking water, improved drainage systems, street lighting repairs, road construction and maintenance, and effective sanitation across the city.
The Secretary directed all departments to promptly resolve legal and administrative hurdles, ensure timely collection of dues, and maintain strict transparency in all transactions. He underscored that these measures would strengthen institutional performance while delivering tangible benefits to residents.
Concluding the meeting, officials reaffirmed their commitment to transforming Quetta Metropolitan Corporation into a dynamic, self-reliant, and citizen-focused organization, ensuring improved public services and better quality of life for the city’s population.
