Usta Muhammad, February 15: Municipal Corporation employees in Usta Muhammad have taken to protests over the non-payment of their salaries for the past two months, highlighting severe financial hardships and prompting urgent calls for government intervention.
Workers and local observers report that many families are struggling to meet basic needs due to the prolonged delay in salary disbursements, with some employees unable to secure essential household items. The situation has sparked growing frustration among the public, who accuse the Government of Balochistan and the Local Government Department of administrative negligence.
Protesters have demanded immediate release of their pending wages, while shopkeepers in the area have reportedly halted credit facilities for municipal staff, further worsening the crisis. Citizens described the treatment of municipal employees as “stepmotherly,” pointing out that two- to three-month salary delays have become a recurring problem across several districts in the province.
Community leaders and public representatives have called on the provincial government to take urgent action, release the outstanding salaries, and implement measures to prevent future delays, emphasizing that municipal employees’ financial security is critical for maintaining public services and social stability.
