Independent Report
Islamabad, March 3, 2026: National Highways and Motorway Police has launched a special awareness drive titled “Helmet, Not Fine” aimed at protecting motorcyclists and promoting responsible road behavior.
Under the campaign, riders found traveling without helmets are first advised to immediately purchase and wear a helmet instead of being fined on the spot. Officers brief motorcyclists on the importance of helmets, potential risks, and the deadly consequences of head injuries in traffic accidents.
If a rider buys and wears a helmet at the location, no fine is imposed. However, repeat violators face action under the law to ensure enforcement remains effective.
The initiative focuses on saving lives rather than penalizing citizens. Research shows head injuries are a leading cause of death and disability in road crashes, while quality helmets significantly reduce fatal risks.
Awareness sessions, pamphlet distribution, banners and media outreach are being conducted nationwide. Public response has been positive, with citizens terming the campaign a humane and practical step toward road safety.
