QUETTA, March 5, 2026: Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, highlighted the province’s ongoing crackdown on smuggling, illegal vehicle trade, and other criminal activities while maintaining law and order.
At a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in Quetta, 24 non-custom vehicles, valued at Rs 8 crore, were formally handed over to the Customs Department. IG Tahir stated, “Our campaign against the use and sale of non-custom vehicles continues, with enhanced checks at all entry points to curb illegal transportation.” He noted that such vehicles are often linked to criminal activity, with legal challenges arising from record-keeping gaps between police and excise departments.
Dr. Karam Elahi, Collector Customs Balochistan, praised police collaboration, emphasizing that non-custom vehicles are frequently used in smuggling operations, causing billions in annual losses to the national exchequer. “Through a joint action plan, strict legal measures are being enforced against violators,” he added.
Deputy Inspector General Quetta, Imran Shaukat, handed over the vehicles, confirming that all 24 had been seized during ongoing operations and transferred to customs following completion of legal formalities.
The initiative reflects Balochistan law enforcement’s continued commitment to combating smuggling, illegal vehicle trade, and ensuring public security across the province.
