Special Report. Islamabad.july 07
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a statement to clarify its role in cybercrime investigations, emphasizing that the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCIA) is now responsible for investigating and prosecuting cybercrime-related offenses. The FIA strongly denied circulating news reports claiming that a judicial magistrate’s court had ordered the FIA to block 27 Pakistani YouTube channels, stating that the court’s orders were actually issued to the NCIA. The FIA highlighted that it and the NCIA are two separate and autonomous organizations, and cybercrime investigations fall outside the FIA’s jurisdiction. The public and media representatives are advised to verify information with relevant authorities before publishing to avoid spreading misinformation.
