Quetta, Sep. 10,
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has said that Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, the only institution in the province dedicated to women’s higher education, has made remarkable progress over the past year by overcoming longstanding hurdles and reviving an academic environment that is now witnessing a significant increase in student enrollment after years of crisis.
During his visit to the university on Wednesday, the Governor formally inaugurated a new girls’ hostel with capacity for 200 students. He was accompanied by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and the Pro Vice Chancellor.
Governor Mandokhail noted that alongside academic quality, steps were being taken to further strengthen campus security so that both students and their parents could feel fully assured. “The environment inside the university has improved to such an extent that we can now confidently send our own daughters to study here,” he remarked.
He assured that the university’s science laboratories would be equipped with the required instruments and chemicals to facilitate research and practical learning. He also praised the launch of the self-finance scheme and urged philanthropists to support the university’s development, particularly in assisting deserving students.
Directing the Vice Chancellor to curtail unnecessary expenditures, the Governor stressed that available resources must be utilized more efficiently.
Earlier, the Governor inspected the science laboratories and also handed over a van to the university provided by the Korean Nutrition Project.
