Sindh Fisheries Department to Prioritize Coastal Fishermen, Enforce Strict Regulations

Karachi, September 24, 2025: Provincial Minister for Livestock & Fisheries, Mohammad Ali Malkani, announced that the Sindh government will address the problems of coastal fishermen on a priority basis.

Only biometrically verified fishermen with valid ID cards will be allowed to operate in the sea, and all vessels must be registered with the Fisheries Department. A Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) will track registered boats to prevent illegal fishing and ensure compliance with territorial limits.

The government plans to protect marine resources, provide essential facilities to registered fishermen, and strictly enforce penalties against unauthorized fishing activities, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and resource conservation
