Balochistan Achieves Major Breakthrough in 2025 Anti-Narcotics Campaign: 570 Acres of Cannabis and Opium Crops Destroyed
Quetta, September 28, 2025: Following the directives of the Balochistan Home Department, district administrations across the province, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Balochistan, have achieved significant success in the 2025 Anti-Narcotics Eradication Campaign.
According to officials, a total of 570 acres of cannabis and other narcotics crops have been destroyed across Balochistan so far, with 111 acres eradicated today alone. Additionally, 8 acres of hybrid opium poppy were also eliminated.
In Duki district, an operation covered 6.8 acres of narcotics cultivation, with no FIRs registered. In Loralai’s Nali Azam area, Tehsil Mekhtar, 13 acres of illicit crops were destroyed today, bringing the total eradicated in the district to 125.2 acres. Two tractors were deployed during the operation, with no arrests or FIRs reported.
In Chaman, 25 acres of cannabis were destroyed, resulting in the registration of 4 FIRs. Pishin district saw 94 acres of narcotics crops destroyed, accompanied by 7 FIRs. In Qalat, 30 acres were cleared without any FIRs, while in Qila Abdullah, operations continued for the third day. Areas such as Kashni Dubandi, Tashar Bat, Esna, and Zimal/Takri Esna (Barkat) saw 98 acres of crops eradicated, including 20 acres destroyed naturally due to water scarcity, with the remaining 78 acres cleared by ANF teams. The district has now achieved a total eradication of 289 acres, with 2 FIRs registered today, bringing the total to 6 FIRs.
The operations employed 10 Weedicide Spray Machines, 4 Grass Cutter Machines, and 2 Tractors. Officials emphasized that the campaign is a key milestone in making Balochistan narcotics-free, and that further operations will be intensified using modern machinery and coordinated strategies.
Authorities highlighted that these efforts are part of a comprehensive provincial strategy to eradicate narcotics cultivation and ensure the safety and health of communities across Balochistan.
