The Balochistan High Court has expressed strong concern over the discriminatory distribution of gas to the province and directed Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) and the provincial government to submit a detailed report.
According to an SSGCL report submitted in court, Balochistan is supplied only 60 MMCFD of gas compared to Punjab’s 407 MMCFD and Sindh’s 198 MMCFD. The court termed this situation a violation of Article 158 of the Constitution and the principle of equal treatment.
The court further ordered SSGCL to present district- and tehsil-wise details of gas supply across Balochistan. The Chief Secretary was directed to keep the court informed about progress in negotiations with the federal government.
Taking note of the severe winter ahead, the court also instructed authorities to increase gas pressure in Quetta. The case has been adjourned until November 4, 2025.
