Islamabad, Oct. 6: The GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital Gwadar has emerged as a beacon of hope for women and children in Balochistan, spearheading a comprehensive campaign to improve maternal and child health through education, quality care, and digital awareness.

In a strategic move to strengthen public health outreach, the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department has launched an innovative awareness program titled “Gynaec Talks”, a series of informative sessions aimed at educating women in simple Urdu about safe pregnancy, maternal nutrition, and early detection of complications.

The initiative, reported by Gwadar Pro, reflects the hospital’s growing commitment to integrating medical expertise with community engagement, ensuring that women in Gwadar and surrounding areas have easy access to reliable health guidance.

During Gynaec Talks #2, Dr. Shabana Rehman, Senior Registrar of Obstetrics and Gynecology, addressed the crucial topic of high blood pressure during pregnancy — a common but preventable threat to mothers. She stressed the importance of recognizing warning signs such as persistent headaches, nausea, swelling, and shortness of breath, urging women to seek timely medical consultation.

> “Regular antenatal checkups, balanced nutrition, and physical activity are key to safeguarding the health of both mother and baby,” Dr. Rehman advised. “Expecting mothers should limit salt intake, avoid oily foods, and ensure proper rest and hydration.”

Earlier, on August 15, Dr. Mah Rukh Aslam, Senior Registrar at the same department, inaugurated the first session Gynaec Talks #1, focusing on anemia during pregnancy. She encouraged the consumption of iron-rich foods such as meat, green vegetables, eggs, liver, beetroot, and dates, while emphasizing the importance of at least three prenatal checkups during pregnancy — early, mid, and late stages — to ensure a healthy outcome for both mother and child.

According to official data, the hospital treated over 26,000 patients in September 2025 alone, including 2,590 gynecology and obstetrics cases and successfully conducted 265 deliveries.

A broader analysis by Gwadar Pro revealed that from August 2024 to September 2025, a total of 36,661 women visited the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, with 2,866 successful childbirths recorded — a testament to the hospital’s growing trust and reputation in the region.

The GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital, established under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening public health infrastructure in Gwadar, offering advanced maternal and neonatal services alongside public awareness campaigns.

Through initiatives like Gynaec Talks, the hospital is setting new benchmarks in women’s healthcare, preventive medicine, and community health education, empowering women to make informed decisions about their wellbeing and that of their families.
