The Month of Youm-e-Takbeer
By: Tariq Khan Tareen
On May 28, 1998, Pakistan proved its defensive capabilities to the world by successfully conducting nuclear tests in the mountains of Chagai. This day is not merely a historical event but has become a symbol of Pakistan’s sovereignty, advancement in science and technology, and national unity. This year, instead of being observed for just one day, Youm-e-Takbeer is being celebrated throughout the month, as Pakistan has recently demonstrated remarkable military superiority over India.
In response to India’s aggressive actions, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan-e-Marsous” (Wall of Steel), during which it shot down three Indian Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-30 aircraft. Additionally, the Pakistani military destroyed the Indian Brigade Headquarters and nearly 80 Israeli-made drones. On the night of May 10, Pakistan entered Indian airspace and targeted several key military installations, including India’s advanced S-400 air defense system. This operation not only highlighted Pakistan’s military capabilities but also shattered India’s arrogance. The Pakistan Air Force, Army, and Navy worked in perfect coordination, delivering a strong and unified message to India: any act of aggression will be met with a forceful and decisive response. The Pakistani public stood firmly behind their armed forces, successfully countering Indian media propaganda.
In retaliation for its losses, India resorted to proxy warfare and incited terrorism in Balochistan. Under the banner of “Fitna-e-Hind” (Sedition of India), hostile elements attempted to disrupt peace and security. However, the Pakistani armed forces responded with full strength. Over 50 terrorists have been neutralized so far, and ongoing operations are aimed at eliminating the remaining threats. Pakistan remains resolute in its commitment to peace on its soil and will not tolerate any external interference. Since May 7, the nation has been celebrating its military achievements with pride. Citizens are expressing gratitude for the bravery of their armed forces and offering prayers of thanks to God. Youm-e-Takbeer is not just a commemoration of the past but a current-day affirmation of Pakistan’s strength and resolve. Once again, the nation is united in declaring that Pakistan’s defense is impenetrable, and no enemy can challenge its sovereignty. Pakistan’s nuclear capability is not merely a weapon, but a guarantee of national security. The 1998 nuclear tests established a strategic balance in the region and sent a clear message to India that any large-scale aggression would be met with a powerful response.
Even today, Pakistan’s defense doctrine remains firm: “Peace is our aim, but if war is imposed on us, we will respond with full force.” This mindset has made Pakistan a strong and respected force in the region.
On this occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, we must acknowledge the immense contributions of our scientists, soldiers, and leaders whose tireless efforts have made Pakistan invincible. The sacrifices of national heroes like Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan can never be forgotten. Because of their dedication, Pakistan today stands proud and dignified on the world map. We take pride in our defense self-reliance and must continue working to further strengthen it.
Pakistan’s recent military successes have sparked discussion not only at home but also abroad. Leading international media outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Sky News, and CNN have acknowledged that Pakistan has delivered a clear and powerful message to India. These developments have boosted national morale while demoralizing the enemy. The performance of the Pakistani armed forces has proven that they are fully prepared for modern warfare.
This month of Youm-e-Takbeer reminds us of the urgent need to strengthen our national unity. The enemy constantly seeks to divide us from within, but we have proven that a united nation cannot be defeated. History bears witness that Pakistan has faced every challenge with unity and resilience. Today, it is imperative that we enhance our defense capabilities and achieve self-reliance in science and technology. To defeat our enemies’ conspiracies, we must remain vigilant. This month provides an opportunity to renew our pledge to do everything possible for the progress and security of our nation.
Finally, we must remember that Pakistan is a great nation that has fought for its survival through every difficulty. Youm-e-Takbeer teaches us to protect our sovereignty and work together for a stronger future.
Pakistan Zindabad! Pakistan Paindabad!
