Punjab Food Authority Cracks Down on Diseased Chicken Supplier

Lahore. June 19: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against a poultry supplier for attempting to supply dead chickens to Lahore. The enforcement team seized a loader rickshaw carrying the dead birds in the suburban area of Chak Dhera.

Key Highlights:

– Quantity Seized: Over 1,800 kilograms of diseased and unfit chicken were discarded, intended for supply to Lahore and surrounding areas.
– Inspection: Food safety teams inspected over 217,000 kilograms of meat from 53 suppliers and warehouses in Tollinton Market, discarding meat prepared from dead birds suffering from various diseases.
– Action: Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid emphasized that preparing meat from dead or sick birds is a serious crime, and legal proceedings are underway against the involved supplier ¹ ².
