KARACHI: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) held a productive meeting with Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to address technical and logistical challenges encountered during the Quarter 3 disbursement cycle and finalize operational plans for the upcoming Quarter 4 tranche disbursement through the retail network.

The meeting, led by Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor, Additional Secretary BISP, aimed to ensure seamless coordination among stakeholders, uphold service standards, and facilitate a smooth disbursement process. Key representatives from BISP’s Sindh office, including Director General Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh and Director Mr. Akram Bhutto, participated in the meeting alongside senior officials from HBL, including Mr. Shaikh Umair Asad, Senior Product Manager, Miss Samreen Shamsheer, Business Head, and Mr. Allah Nawaz, Cluster Manager.

In light of the ongoing heatwave and high humidity, BISP’s shift from campsite disbursement to retail-based disbursement aims to minimize crowding and hardship, ensuring beneficiaries receive payments with dignity and respect in a safer environment. Dr. Tahir Noor emphasized the importance of efficient service delivery, directing HBL to provide essential facilities such as drinking water, shaded waiting areas, and seating arrangements at retail outlets.

Discussions focused on system readiness, cash availability, biometric verification enhancements, grievance redressal, and real-time monitoring. Dr. Tahir Noor stressed the need for seamless coordination to uphold service standards and facilitate smooth disbursement. Both parties agreed to establish a robust complaint redressal mechanism and prevent unauthorized auto-withdrawals.

Through this collaboration, BISP and HBL aim to enhance the beneficiary experience, ensuring dignity and respect in the payment process. By working together, they strive to provide efficient and transparent services to the beneficiaries.
