District Central Jail Gadani to be developed into a model prison costing of Rs. 2 billion: Zehri

HUB: The Spokesman for President Asif Ali Zardari on Balochistan and Provincial Minister Mir Ali Hassan Zehri has stated that the District Central Jail Gadani would be developed into a model prison of the province at a cost of Rs. 2 billion.
A comprehensive development project aimed at providing basic facilities in the prison has been approved, and funds have been released for its implementation, which would begin soon.
Mir Ali Hasan Zehri was speaking during his visit to Gadani Jail, where he was briefed by the Deputy Jail Superintendent on Sunday.
The Provincial Minister said that clean drinking water would be ensured in the prison through the installation of a water storage tank, water bowser, and a reverse osmosis (RO) plant.
He further stated that a technical workshop would be established under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to equip inmates with vocational skills and help them become productive members of society.
During his visit, the Minister listened to prisoners’ concerns and immediately ordered the appointment of legal counsel to follow up on the cases of poor female inmates.
He also inspected the food being served in the jail’s kitchen.
Later, he visited the RCD Highway and took action after observing water drainage issues caused by rain, summoning National Highway Authority (NHA) officials on the spot and issuing directives.
During his visit to Hub, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri spoke with District Chairman Javed Jamali and Mayor Babu Faiz Sheikh.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor performance of NHA field officers and acknowledged the hardships faced by the people of the industrial city.
He reassured constituents that their difficulties are being taken seriously and that they would never be left alone.
The Minister also met Additional Deputy Commissioner Ali Raza Khosa to get an update on measures taken following the monsoon rains.
In addition to this, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri visited the Imam Bargah Husaini in Jam Colony. In preparation for Muharram, he issued directives regarding the security plan for the Imam Bargah and for the implementation of a tough tile paving scheme.
