Independent Report
QUETTA: The Provincial Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has demanded the repeal of the Mines and Minerals Bill in the province.
He announced that they would challenge the Mines and Minerals Act in court. In addition to this, he stated that there would be strong protest against the Act in the Provincial Assembly as well.
Maulana Abdul Wasey further mentioned that show-cause notices were issued to their party’s members of the Provincial Assembly, and those members have now responded to the notices.
Maulana Abdul Wasey was addressing press conference at his residence on Monday evening. He was accompanied by the JUI leaders.
He mentioned that Party’s MPA Zabid Reki had showered flower petals on the Chief Minister during an assembly session, which was a violation of party discipline. As a result, Zabid Reki’s party membership has been suspended. He further added that Zabid Reki has accepted the party’s decision.
He stated that the Mines and Minerals Act was very cleverly passed in the Balochistan Assembly, and all members were kept in the dark regarding the bill. Maulana Abdul Wasey also remarked that lawlessness in the province is at its peak.
Maulana Abdul Wasey further said that from 2008 to 2013, Jamiat was part of the Balochistan government. During our tenure, universities, cadet colleges, and other institutions were established. However, we have been in the opposition for the past 12 years. Someone should tell us what development work has taken place during this period, while we, during our time in power, secured the NFC (National Finance Commission) award. Now, we stand on the basis of our performance, he added
