Pakistani Rupee Depreciates Against Major Global Currencies

Islamabad, July 9, 2025 : According to data from the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan, the Pakistani Rupee continues its downward trend against major international currencies, including the US dollar, euro, and British pound. The greenback reached between PKR 286.00 and PKR 287.00.

The euro also saw gains, reaching between PKR 335.00 and PKR 337.51. Similarly, the British pound strengthened against the Pakistani currency, rising from PKR 389.20 to a high of PKR 391.80.

The Japanese yen saw a slight increase, remaining stable between PKR 1.92 and PKR 1.97. Likewise, the UAE dirham appreciated, moving from PKR 77.86 to PKR 78.25. The Saudi riyal also gained against the Pakistani Rupee, trading between PKR 76.21 and PKR 76.55.

The interbank exchange rate reflected this depreciation, with the dollar fluctuating between PKR 284.46 and PKR 284.66. This continued decline of the rupee is raising concerns about its potential impact on the national economy, particularly in terms of import costs and inflationary pressures.
