“Low Attendance Raises Questions About Lawmakers’ Commitment”

A recent report by the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has highlighted a concerning trend of low attendance among lawmakers in the National Assembly’s budget session. Only 25% of the total members attended the sessions, sparking questions about their commitment to legislative duties.
Attendance Record*: Out of 314 members, only 78 attended all 13 sessions held between June 5 and June 27, 2025.
– Absenteeism: A staggering 235 members (75%) were absent from at least one session, with 156 members absent without prior notice.
– Leave Requests: 79 members formally requested leave, while others were absent without any explanation.
– Attendance Fluctuation: Attendance varied throughout the sessions, with the highest attendance recorded in the 12th session (93%) and the lowest in the 3rd session.

The FAFEN report underscores the need for improved attendance and commitment from lawmakers to effectively fulfill their legislative responsibilities .
