Karachi, August 2,: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has announced that a women’s cycling rally will be a major event on Sunday, the third day of the two-week Independence Day celebrations “Maraka-e-Haq”. The first two days witnessed tree plantation and flag hoisting ceremonies in various districts under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners.
In District Central, 245 saplings were planted on August 1st and 2nd, led by Acting Deputy Commissioner Asim Abbasi. Aided by the Forest Department, Sailani Welfare, and environmental experts, the drive saw the planting of indigenous species like Neem, Gulmohar, Cassia, Sukh Chain, Peepal, Arjun, and Ficus at various locations including Noorani Park, Government Girls High School Nazimabad No. 3, Qadria Family Park, and Abdul Haseeb Park. The Commissioner directed officials to ensure the continued care of the newly planted trees.
Flag hoisting ceremonies also took place in Malir and Korangi districts, led by their respective Deputy Commissioners, Saleemullah Odho and Masood Bhutto. These gatherings included administrative officials, staff, community leaders, and representatives from social groups, all expressing their commitment to national development and the protection of the nation. Participants chanted national slogans and waved the national flag.
Naqvi urged all Deputy Commissioners to participate fully in the 14-day program and emphasized the importance of celebrating the 78th Independence Day and “Maraka-e-Haq” with enthusiasm and national pride. He called for making the 2025 celebrations truly memorable and emphasized the significance of these commemorative days in Pakistan’s history. He directed that the programs highlight the services of Pakistan’s defense personnel and recount the nation’s collective patriotism and pride in the successful defense of the country. He hailed the strength and capability of the armed forces, calling Pakistan an invincible fortress. The Commissioner encouraged social organizations, civil society, intellectuals, experts, and influential individuals to participate in making these events memorable.
