Karachi, August 3 – Brilliant centuries by Shaib Khan and Qadeer Khan, along with destructive bowling by Saifullah, Rehman Ghani, Moaz Khuram, and Abdul Rafeeq highlighted the PCB Regional Inter-District Senior (Karachi Region) Cricket Tournament. Zone VII and Zone V also won their respective matches. Tournament champions Zone VI won their final match as well.
At the KCCA Stadium, Zone VI concluded their campaign with a resounding 288-run victory against Zone III. Zone VI scored 349 in their first innings and 297 in their second. Arbaz Khan (80), Ghulam Ashraf (69), Saifullah (not out 47), and Ziaullah (23) were the key run-scorers. Abdul Rafeeq claimed 5 wickets for 97 runs, and Israr Ahmed Awan took 2 wickets. Chasing 497, Zone III was bowled out for 179 in their second innings. Sami Afridi remained unbeaten on 76, while Adil Hussain (23) and Waqas Akbar (20) also contributed. Saifullah (5 for 70) and Moaz Khuram (5 for 84) starred with the ball.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Zone VII pulled off a thrilling 3-wicket win against Zone II despite a 132-run first-innings deficit. Zone II scored 312 in their first innings and 135 in their second, with Muhammad Sohail Khan (53) and Tariq Bakht (22) being the key batsmen. Fawad Khan and Najib ur Rehman took 4 wickets each, while Saad bin Yousuf picked up 2. Chasing 268, Zone VII reached 271 for 7 thanks to a magnificent 101 by Qadeer Khan. Hafiza Munir (83) and Rehman Ghani (32) also played vital innings. Mohammad Umar Aijaz claimed 4 wickets and Wahaj Riaz took 2 for Zone II.
At the TMC Cricket Ground, Zone V defeated Zone I by 50 runs for their second win of the competition. In reply to Zone V’s first innings total of 222, Zone I scored 252. Trailing by 30 runs, Zone V posted 245 in their second innings, courtesy of Shaib Khan’s brilliant 114. Mohammad Hassan Iqbal (40) and Syed Shah Raza (38) provided valuable support. Rehman Ghani bagged 6 for 97 and Fazal Subhan took 2 wickets. Chasing 216, Zone I was all out for 165. Mohammad Raza (not out 49), Fazal Subhan (37), and Malik Zain-ul-Abidin (33) were the notable run-getters. Mohammad Ali Butt (4 for 24) and Fawad Shah (2 wickets) were the most successful bowlers.
