Karachi, August 4, 2025 : The 20th My Karachi (Oasis of Harmony) Exhibition concluded successfully, with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) demanding a rightful share of Karachi’s resources and improved infrastructure. Nearly 800,000 people attended the three-day event at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The gathering showcased Karachi’s economic potential, culture, and business opportunities, featuring over 350 stalls from local and international participants.

KCCI announced the exhibition’s 21st edition, scheduled for February 6-8, 2026. Initiated in 2004, the event symbolizes peace and prosperity in Pakistan’s financial hub. This year’s edition saw participation from multinational corporations, diplomatic missions, women-owned businesses, and educational institutions, offering discounts ranging from 20% to 50%.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori lauded KCCI’s efforts and announced the release of PKR 20 billion from federal funds for Karachi’s development, with another PKR 20 billion pending. He proposed a meeting to discuss the K-IV water project and suggested transferring its management to the business sector for expedited completion. Tessori emphasized the need for intergovernmental cooperation to address the metropolis’s infrastructure and service deficiencies.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also commended KCCI and assured the business community of the provincial government’s full support. He selected the theme “Maarka-e-Haq” (Battle of Rights) for the Independence Day celebrations.

BMG Chairman Zubair Motiwala anticipates greater international participation and improved facilities at the 2026 exhibition. He revealed that seven diplomatic missions and over 20 multinationals participated in this year’s event. Due to its growing influence, holding the exhibition biennially is under consideration. Motiwala urged the Sindh government to address water and gas shortages and ensure timely completion of the K-IV project.

KCCI President Mohammed Tariq Yousuf thanked stakeholders and the press. He highlighted the need for a modern expo center in Karachi and underscored the city’s infrastructural challenges, including dilapidated roads, inadequate drainage, traffic congestion, land encroachment, and rising street crime. Yousuf emphasized enhancing the Safe City project and surveillance. He questioned the unfair gas and water allocation and cost, demanding that Karachi receive its due share as the highest tax-revenue contributing city.

The 20th My Karachi Exhibition celebrated the city’s spirit, featuring cultural performances, fireworks, music, and economic discussions. It reaffirmed Karachi’s resilient and vital role in Pakistan’s economy. The event facilitated strategic dialogue among government officials, business representatives, and diplomats, while also providing affordable shopping and family entertainment.
