Peshawar, August 5, 2025 — In a solemn expression of support for the resilient people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Press Information Department (PID) Peshawar observed Youm-e-Istehsaal today, underscoring Pakistan’s continued commitment to the Kashmir cause. The event was led by Deputy Director Muhammad Hanif and attended by officers, staff of the department and community members.
The observance marked six years since the controversial and unilateral abrogation of Article 370 by India on August 5, 2019 — a move widely condemned for stripping Kashmiris of their internationally recognized autonomy and fundamental rights. Through speeches, a dedicated session, and symbolic black bands worn by participants, the event served as a platform to amplify the voices silenced under occupation.
Deputy Director Muhammad Hanif, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of narrative-building through responsible media and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue raising the Kashmir issue at all international fora. “We are not here to merely mark a date on the calendar,” he said, “We are here to remind the world that injustice cannot be normalized and that the Kashmiri struggle is not forgotten.”
He stressed that Youm-e-Istehsaal is not only a day of remembrance but also a day of renewed resolve — to stand by the oppressed and to advocate for their right to self-determination, as enshrined in UN resolutions.
The event included screening of short documentaries, reading out solidarity messages from national leadership, and a minute of silence observed in tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir. Participants called upon the global community to break its silence and take meaningful action toward ending human rights violations in the region.
Through its modest yet meaningful observance, PID Peshawar sought to play its part in the national campaign to awaken conscience, promote truth, and counter disinformation regarding the Kashmiri people’s just struggle.
The program concluded with special prayers for the Kashmiri brethren, reaffirming Pakistan’s unshakeable moral, diplomatic, and political support for their cause.
