Karachi, August 12, 2025: The Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) has approved a budget of Rs18.49 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26, allocating Rs14.41 billion for expenditures. Sindh Labor Minister Shahid Thaheem made the announcement after the institution’s 173rd meeting.
In the meeting, which also included Labor Secretary Rafiq Qureshi and SESSI Commissioner Safdar Rizvi, it was decided to determine workers’ contributions based on the minimum wage. Emphasizing the importance of workers’ rights, Minister Thaheem promised strict action against employers who neglect to register their workforce.
He reiterated SESSI’s commitment to providing healthcare, financial assistance, and various welfare programs to workers and their families. The minister aims to increase the institution’s revenue and expand its reach to all industrial and commercial areas.
The meeting also saw decisions to engage a specialist for the renovation of Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital and submit a proposal for constructing a modern medical facility in Karachi. Additionally, the participants agreed to broaden the tax base.
