Karachi, August 18, 2025 (: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered the construction of a modern 600-bed hospital in Larkana. This announcement was made after a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, was attended by Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Member of Sindh Assembly Jamil Soomro, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Chairman Planning and Development Najam Shah, Secretary Health Rehan Baloch, and Secretary Finance Fayyaz Jatoi, among other senior officials.
The meeting discussed upgrading the existing Larkana hospital, spread over 16 acres. Under the project, two new towers will be constructed, increasing the hospital’s capacity to 600 beds. The Chief Minister emphasized modernizing the existing hospital, located in the city center, to consolidate all medical facilities. This integrated approach will bring emergency services, gynecology, cardiology, children’s hospital, surgical departments, and other essential medical units under one complex.
Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah was directed to immediately appoint a consultant for the design of the new towers and ensure road construction for better access to the hospital. The provincial government intends to complete and operationalize the upgraded hospital within two years.
A special committee comprising the Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Finance, and Secretary Health will oversee the appointment of the consultant, finalize the hospital design, and ensure the prompt commencement of construction work. The Chief Secretary was directed to formally establish this committee through a notification.
