University Law College Quetta Hosts Successful Arbitration Training Workshop Under IMAC Initiative

Quetta, Sept 3 (Independent Report): A one-day training workshop on arbitration successfully concluded at the University Law College Quetta, organized by the International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (IMAC) under the Ministry of Law and Justice, in collaboration with the Balochistan High Court, Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Balochistan Bar Council, and the University Law College. The workshop aimed to familiarize lawyers and professionals with modern techniques of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Honourable Justice Iqbal Ahmed Kasi of the Balochistan High Court attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. In his address, he emphasized that arbitration and conciliation are deeply rooted in local traditions and serve as effective tools to reduce the growing burden of cases on courts. He urged young lawyers to encourage their clients to adopt ADR, describing it as the fastest and most cost-effective method of resolving disputes. Justice Kasi also highlighted the promising professional future ADR holds for upcoming lawyers and commended IMAC and the Ministry of Law and Justice for promoting its culture in Pakistan.

President of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Mir Attaullah Langove, lauded the initiative, noting that such programs reflect the vision of Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar. He expressed gratitude to IMAC and the Ministry for extending this opportunity to lawyers in Balochistan.

Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Bar Council, Rehmatullah Bareech, termed the training a timely step, especially beneficial for young lawyers, preparing them to meet evolving legal demands. Professor Ismatullah Kakar also stressed the significance of such capacity-building initiatives for students and young practitioners.

The workshop featured lectures by renowned international arbitrators Mian Shiraz Javed and Syed Hammad Yousaf Gillani, covering the fundamentals of ADR, national and international arbitration frameworks, procedures, and practical aspects. Participants appreciated the training, noting that it equipped them with hands-on knowledge and international standards of arbitration, enabling them to play a more effective role in advancing ADR in Balochistan and across Pakistan.

In his concluding remarks, IMAC Registrar Ihsanullah Khan expressed gratitude to Justice Kasi, guest speakers, and participants for their active contribution, which made the training a success. He reiterated that the program was part of IMAC’s broader mission to institutionalize ADR in Pakistan. Since its inception, IMAC has been conducting training programs for lawyers, judges, government officials, the business community, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of disputes.
