1 in 3 (35%) Pakistanis Blame Government or District Administration for Loss of Life in Recent Rains & Cloudbursts;

According to a Gallup & Gilani Pakistan survey, 1 in 3 (35%) Pakistanis blame the government or district administration for loss of life in recent rains & cloudbursts; rural residents more likely to hold this view (37%), while urban residents blame the public themselves (26%).
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women across the country was asked the question, “In your opinion, who is most responsible for the loss of life caused by the recent rains and cloudbursts?”. In response, 35% hold ‘the Government or District Administration’ most responsible for the loss of life caused by recent rains and cloudbursts. In addition, 20% blame the ‘public’ themselves, 15% hold the ‘Meteorological Department’ responsible, 10% cite ‘local bodies (e.g., Municipal Corporation), while 17% responded “Don’t Know”, and 3% gave no response.
At the national level, most Pakistanis blame the government for the loss of life in recent rains and cloudbursts. These contrasting perceptions highlight the necessity for government agencies to enhance their visibility and responsiveness in rural regions, while simultaneously promoting public awareness campaigns in urban centers.
