Pakistan, Iran Discuss Trade, Health Cooperation and Border Development
The Minister stressed that the Pakistan-Iran border should become a gateway of development and friendship
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, met the Ambassador of Iran, Mr. Raza Amiri Moghadam, at the Iranian Embassy to discuss strengthening trade, border cooperation, and humanitarian initiatives.
The meeting, also attended by Sundas Foundation Chairman Air Vice Marshal (R) Aftab Hussain, focused on the needs of hemophilia patients. The Minister urged the formal and subsidized import of life-saving medicines through a legal framework, to which the Ambassador assured review and proposals after consultations.
Trade challenges and border issues were discussed, with the Ambassador highlighting a 10% increase in Iranian imports of Pakistani rice following the Iranian President’s visit. The Minister welcomed this as a step toward stronger economic ties.
He emphasized urgent development in Balochistan and border regions, while both sides reaffirmed their historic brotherly relations and pledged to expand cooperation for public welfare. The Minister stressed that the Pakistan-Iran border should become a gateway of development and friendship.
