The CDWP also reviewed the Flood Disaster Prevention Master Plan and Storm Water Storage System in Multan
Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, on Friday reviewed major projects in health, education, and water sectors.
The forum recommended the KP Human Capital Investment Project (Health Component) worth Rs18.1 billion to ECNEC, aimed at improving primary healthcare in 13 districts for both host communities and refugees, with World Bank support. It also approved a Rs2 billion nationwide programme to strengthen systems against AIDS, TB, and malaria, aligning with Pakistan’s SDG commitments.
On education, Prof. Iqbal emphasized early childhood learning and directed provinces to ensure quality science and computer labs in public schools, while ensuring each union council has a girls’ high school. He stressed strict accountability and talent-based recruitment to improve outcomes.
The CDWP also reviewed the Flood Disaster Prevention Master Plan and Storm Water Storage System in Multan, with the Minister urging Punjab to prioritize wastewater and sewerage management to combat rising river and groundwater pollution.
Prof. Iqbal concluded that every PC-1 must demonstrate measurable outcomes, warning that development spending without accountability cannot deliver transformation.
