KARACHI: The Ministry of IT & Telecom and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) formally launched the “Prime Minister’s Skill Tech Pakistan” program at the Building Tomorrow event in Karachi. The initiative is designed as a comprehensive platform to empower Pakistani youth through digital skills development, internships, certifications, and industry linkages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced the program, describing it as a revolutionary step with six flagship initiatives to equip young Pakistanis with globally recognized technology skills, including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and other emerging fields.

“These flagship programs will not only train our youth to meet international standards but also help Pakistani tech companies secure global compliance certifications. This platform reflects our commitment to prepare Pakistan’s youth for the future and to position the country as a global technology hub,” she said.

The Minister also highlighted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a Digital Pakistan, noting that under the earlier DigiSkills program, more than 3 million Pakistanis have been trained, contributing to a record $691 million in IT exports between July and August 2025.

PSEB CEO Abu Bakar emphasized the mission to train 2.1 million more Pakistanis within the next three years, ensuring that the workforce becomes competitive, employable, and confident at the global level. “This roadmap will transform Pakistan into a regional digital hub, empower students, and strengthen the IT industry,” he said.

The Skill Tech Pakistan program covers a wide range of sectors:

Skill Bridge – designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing ICT graduates with job placements, internships, and apprenticeships.

Certified to Export (C2X) – to assist IT companies in acquiring international certifications such as ISO and GDPR.

Skill Lift 1.0 – bootcamps for advanced training in AI, cloud computing, web development, mobile applications, and software quality assurance.

This new initiative aims to not only create opportunities for youth but also establish Pakistan as a regional leader in digital skills and technology exports.
