Kalat, 23 September 2025 (APP): Thanks to the reform policies of Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Jamil Baloch, the health sector in District Kalat has achieved remarkable progress. The district administration has now made 22 Basic Health Units (BHUs), 3 Rural Health Centers, and the 50-bed District Teaching Hospital fully operational, ensuring 24-hour medical services for the public.

Deputy Commissioner Jamil Baloch told APP that following his appointment in March 2025, he implemented monitoring and reform policies to ensure staff attendance, improve service delivery, and strengthen healthcare infrastructure. As a result, residents of Kalat now have access to basic health facilities, including routine operations, emergency care, and 24-hour gynecology services at the District Teaching Hospital.

To curb the spread of leishmaniasis in the district, a special treatment center has been established at the Teaching Hospital, where patients are receiving Glucantime injections according to international standards. The DC added that an emergency health monitoring committee has been activated to ensure timely and effective treatment for leishmaniasis patients.

In addition, the first free medical camp under this initiative was held at RHC Health Center and Trauma Center Rodenijo, where Medical Officer Dr. Yahya Mengal and staff provided treatment and free medicines, along with awareness sessions on disease prevention for pregnant women and children.

Deputy Commissioner Jamil Baloch confirmed that medical camps will be extended to all areas of Kalat in a phased manner, underlining the administration’s commitment to public health and well-being.
