Peshawar, September 28, 2025 – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has launched major operations in Mardan, Hangu, and Swat, seizing large quantities of adulterated and substandard food products, officials confirmed on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the authority said the crackdown was conducted under the supervision of Director General Wasif Saeed. In Mardan, the Food Safety Team raided jaggery production units on Nisata Road after receiving public complaints, recovering sugar and nearly 900 kilograms of adulterated jaggery.
In Hangu, inspectors confiscated around 1,000 litres of substandard beverages from a distribution point.
Meanwhile, in Khwazakhela, Swat, the Food Safety Team, in coordination with the district administration and livestock officials, seized 260 kilograms of unsafe and unhygienic minced meat stored in two warehouses. The contaminated meat was destroyed on the spot, the warehouses sealed, and FIRs registered against the owners.
The spokesperson added that heavy fines were imposed for hygiene violations and further proceedings under the KP Food Safety Act are underway.
KP Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru, praised the operations, warning that those involved in food adulteration “must set their house in order or be prepared to face strict legal action.”
