KARACHI: Syed Aman Shah, Provincial Convener of Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, strongly criticized the conduct of the Indian government and the Indian cricket team. He said that the refusal of the Indian team to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during the award ceremony after the final match was deeply regrettable and shameful. This act is tantamount to undermining the spirit and sanctity of sports.

He said that sports have always been considered a means to strengthen relations between countries and to promote peace, love, and brotherhood. However, the Indian team’s action has exposed India’s negative mindset and prejudiced mentality before the whole world. To sacrifice the field of sports at the altar of hatred and politics is not only hostility towards sports but will also bring disgrace to India at the global level.

Syed Aman Shah further said that the people of Pakistan have always respected sports and players, regardless of their nationality, but India’s repeated actions have proved that it does not consider sports as sports. Instead, it tries to use them as political and diplomatic weapons. This behavior is not only unethical but also a violation of international sports principles.

He demanded that the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), and other relevant bodies take immediate notice of this unfortunate incident and take effective steps to keep sports free from prejudice and politics. If such incidents are not discouraged in the sports field, they will prove dangerous for the future of sports.

Syed Aman Shah said that the Indian team’s conduct has hurt the hearts of the people of Pakistan. Cricket fans around the world witnessed this scene, and the debate is no longer confined to Pakistan but has also raised questions at the global level regarding the Indian team’s negative role. The Awaam Pakistan Party believes that international institutions must go beyond mere statements and take practical measures to ensure that sports are never again used as a tool of politics.
