Islamabad, September 29: On the occasion of World Maritime Day 2025, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the vital role of the country’s maritime sector in ensuring national trade and economic stability.

Highlighting the government’s priorities, the President said that modernization, digitization, and upgradation of ports are essential to transform Karachi and Port Qasim into key regional trade hubs. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing reforms in maritime policies to make Pakistan’s shipping industry globally competitive.

President Zardari noted that incentives for national shipping companies will reduce foreign dependence, while ongoing initiatives in freight security, digital port operations, and Pakistan Single Window’s Port Community System will strengthen the supply chain and conserve foreign exchange.

He further stated that investment in maritime infrastructure will expand trade volume, generate employment, and pave the way for Pakistan to emerge as a sustainable, modern maritime nation and a responsible member of the global maritime community.

“Maritime development is national development, and through unity, reforms, and innovation, we are determined to build a strong and prosperous maritime future for Pakistan,” President Zardari added.
