Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Secretary Approves PKR 76.5 Million Zakat Fund at 55th Provincial Council Meeting
Gilgit, September 30, 2025 — Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Abrar Ahmed Mirza, chaired the 55th Provincial Zakat Council meeting at the Chief Secretary Conference Hall in Gilgit. The meeting focused on Zakat fund allocation, digital Zakat system, and welfare initiatives for deserving beneficiaries across the province.
The session was attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation and Zakat & Ushr Gilgit-Baltistan Rahman Shah, Additional Secretary Finance, Administrator Zakat & Ushr Iqbal Jan, and members of the Provincial Zakat Council from all districts. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
During the meeting, Secretary Zakat & Ushr Rahman Shah provided a detailed briefing on the digitalized Zakat system, its distribution process, progress, and current challenges. The council approved a Zakat fund allocation of PKR 76,502,736 (Seventy-Six Million Five Hundred Two Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty-Six) for the fiscal year 2025-26, which will benefit eligible Zakat recipients in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chief Secretary Abrar Ahmed Mirza emphasized the importance of transparent Zakat distribution, digital records, and timely support for deserving families.
