KARACHI: Teachers have accused the Sindh government Monitoring head Chief Monitoring Officer Qurat-ul-Ain and her staff of unfairly marking them absent through biometric systems, even when schools are closed due to protests and students are not attending classes.

They termed the such practice an “illegal tactic” and evidence of the monitoring teams’ indifference to the ground realities in Karachi and other districts. The Monitoring staff with such practices wants minting mines by corruption sources told.

Meanwhile, province-wide protests by Sindh government employees against the new pension rules have entered their second week. Union leaders warned that millions of workers will march on Bilawal House for a massive sit-in on October 6 if their demands are not met.

Protesters accused the provincial government of ignoring their grievances and vowed to escalate demonstrations ahead of the deadline.

Union leaders and teachers jointly demanded the immediate withdrawal of the controversial pension rules, restoration of employees’ rights, and an end to what they described as arbitrary and unlawful measures targeting staff.
