Peshawar (Press Release) October 1, 2025: A representative delegation of the Betni tribe from Lakki Marwat sub-division, led by President of Itehad-ul-Ulama Maulana Malik Muhammad Umar Ashrafi, called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House Peshawar.

The delegation included Malik Hidayatullah, Malik Shireen, Malik Kamal Shah, Malik Sher Afzal, Malik Fida Muhammad, and other elders.
They briefed the Governor on their constitutional and legal rights regarding the OGDCL plant and expressed concerns that despite the region being rich in mineral resources, the local population had not benefited significantly from the project. They added that free gas connections, promised under earlier commitments, had not yet been provided to the Betni community.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured the delegation that the first right over national resources belongs to the local population. He added that ensuring local communities benefit from local resources is essential for regional development and prosperity. He also assured that the concerns of the Betni tribe would be raised with OGDCL authorities.
