HESCO Intensifies Crackdown on Power Theft: Over 26,500 Illegal Connections Cut, Rs. 634 Million Recovered

HYDERABAD (PR): The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has announced that its region-wide crackdown against electricity theft and defaulters is continuing with full force, following the directives of Chief Executive Officer Faizullah Dahri.

 

According to the HESCO spokesperson, operations were carried out with the support of District Support Units (DSUs) in various sub-divisions, including Allama Iqbal, Miran Muhammad Shah, Tando Allahyar-I, Bhan Saeedabad, Tando Muhammad Khan-I, Sujawal, Sindhri, Mirpurkhas City, and Satellite Town Mirpurkhas.

 

During these actions, 322 illegal connections were disconnected, 1,532 meters of PVC wire were seized, and recoveries worth over Rs. 5.3 million were made.

 

Since the launch of the operation on January 19, 2025, HESCO teams have so far:

 

Disconnected 26,521 illegal connections

 

Arrested 675 culprits

 

Cut off 1,506 electric meters

 

Seized 173,046 meters of PVC wire

 

Disconnected 729 transformers

 

Recovered over Rs. 634.1 million in dues

 

 

Operations in different circles, led by Superintending Engineers, also resulted in significant recoveries:

 

Hyderabad Circle: 56 illegal connections cut, 133 meters of wire seized, Rs. 1.59 million recovered

 

Kotri, Thatta & Tando Muhammad Khan Circles: 259 illegal connections cut, 1,255 meters of wire seized, Rs. 2.43 million recovered

 

Sanghar Circle: 34 meters of wire seized, Rs. 0.22 million recovered

 

Mirpurkhas Circle: 7 illegal connections cut, 110 meters of wire seized, Rs. 1.09 million recovered

 

 

HESCO CEO Faizullah Dahri reiterated that “power thieves are enemies of the nation” and vowed that the campaign will continue until electricity theft is completely eliminated and 100% recovery of dues is ensured.

 

He urged consumers to pay their bills on time, warning that those who fail to do so will face disconnection and strict legal action, including arrests with the support of Rangers, police, and other law enforcement agencies.

 

The spokesperson further appealed to citizens to actively support HESCO in the fight against electricity theft, emphasizing that timely payment of bills is essential for uninterrupted and improved electricity services.
