The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has successfully concluded its special campaign against adulterated milk and substandard dairy products. The drive, which ran from September 10 to September 30, involved large-scale inspections across Quetta and several districts of the province.
According to official data, inspections were carried out at 288 milk shops and 256 milk-carrying vehicles. During the campaign, samples of 83,173 liters of milk and several thousand kilograms of yogurt were collected and tested on-site using mobile laboratories.
Laboratory reports revealed significant adulteration, primarily with water and milk powder. As a result, authorities destroyed 4,785 liters of contaminated milk and 2,421 kilograms of substandard yogurt. Furthermore, 11 shops were sealed, while 90 milk shops and 8 milk transport vehicles were heavily fined for violations.
Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman of the Balochistan Food Authority, Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar, emphasized the government’s commitment, stating:
> “Providing pure and safe food to the people of Balochistan is our top priority. No one will be allowed to play with public health, and strict action will continue against those involved in adulteration.”
He added that BFA teams are working tirelessly for the protection of public health and that the campaign demonstrates the government’s seriousness in ensuring the availability of quality food products. The Minister further appealed to the public to cooperate with the Food Authority by reporting suspicious and substandard food items, stressing that eliminating adulteration is not possible without public support.
