87th Birthday of Legendary Actor Waheed Murad Celebrated with Tribute Gathering by Lovers

KARACHI: “The 87th birthday of legendary actor Waheed Murad was celebrated by Mirza Waqar Baig, founder and chairman of the Lovers of Waheed Murad. M. Ifrahim reminisced, “Waheed Murad is counted among the greatest actors of the subcontinent. Today marks his 87th birthday, and even after all these years, his films remain incredibly memorable. His style was truly iconic among the people.”

The celebration took place at Waqar Baig’s residence, where a cake-cutting ceremony was held to honor Waheed Murad’s life and legacy. The event was attended by notable figures, including singer M. Ifrahim, choreographer Amjad Rana, TikToker Saima Razzaq, Aliza Shah, journalist Rashid Latif, Hafiz Ansari, Liaqat Mughal, Babu, photographer Sikandar Ali, Mutlib Muhammad Abbas, editor Noshah Diwar, and Ajmal Malik.

M. Ifrahim shared his personal connection with Waheed Murad, saying, “I had the privilege of meeting him four times, and he was an exceptionally kind person.” Waqar Baig, despite never having met Waheed Murad, expressed his deep admiration, stating, “I’ve been celebrating his birthday since 1998 and also organize programs on his death anniversary.”

The event concluded with a Fatiha ceremony, held in memory of Waheed Murad, Umer Sharif, Munawwar Saeed, Sikander Sanam, and Liaqat Soldier, paying tribute to their contributions to the industry.”
