Islamabad, October 3, 2025:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Islamabad/Rawalpindi successfully facilitated the refund of millions of rupees to victims of the New Metro City Gujar Khan housing scam. A refund distribution ceremony was held under the chairmanship of NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmad.
The case was initiated in September 2024 following numerous public complaints regarding fraudulent activities by the housing scheme’s management. Due to NAB’s timely intervention, the administration of New Metro City Gujar Khan agreed to return the invested amounts to the affected citizens.
During the ceremony, 383 victims were handed refund cheques worth a total of PKR 767 million, while 57 victims opted to receive plot possession, which was duly facilitated.
Speaking on the occasion, the NAB Chairman reiterated that “restoring looted public money remains NAB’s foremost priority, and every possible effort is being made in this regard.” He further advised the public to thoroughly investigate and verify any project before investing their hard-earned money, in order to avoid financial losses.
The Chairman also praised the performance of NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi for their proactive measures in ensuring relief to the public.
Director General NAB (Islamabad/Rawalpindi) added that this significant refund was no made possible due to the relentless efforts of NAB teams and the vision of the respected Chairman.
