Chaman (By: Syed Sardar Muhammad Khundai, Bureau Chief) — Several political and social organizations in Chaman have announced that they will not participate in the protest scheduled for October 11. The decision was made during an emergency press conference held at the Chaman Press Club.
Representatives from the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Mazloom Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Ideological), Wesh Zwanan, Barakzai Qaumi Ittehad, Bilalzai Qaumi Ittehad, Anjuman Mazooran, and other social organizations jointly announced their decision to boycott the October 11 protest.
They stated that due to unavoidable circumstances, they are withdrawing from the planned protest but will soon announce a united strategy to address the closure of the Chaman-Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the forced deportation of Afghan refugees, and the deteriorating law and order situation.
Political leaders made it clear that the closure of the Chaman border has rendered thousands of people jobless, cutting off economic opportunities for the Pashtun population. They strongly condemned this situation and demanded that the passport regime at the border be abolished, allowing people to cross using their national identity cards and Afghan tazkira.
They further stated that they had played a constructive role in resolving this issue earlier and now condemn the unjust expulsion of Afghan nationals. The leaders warned that if the worsening law and order situation is not addressed promptly, they will soon announce a major protest plan.
