PIMEC: a strategic platform to advance Pakistan’s Blue economy, promote maritime innovation, attract investment

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, while presiding over the third Steering Committee meeting for the Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC) 2025, called the event a strategic platform to advance Pakistan’s Blue Economy by promoting maritime innovation, investment, and international collaboration. He emphasised that the event would showcase Pakistan’s vast maritime potential and solidify its status as a key regional maritime hub.

This prestigious event, organised in partnership with the Pakistan Navy, is set to take place from November 3 to 6, 2025, at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The meeting at CM House was attended by Commander Karachi Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Zulfikar Shah, and Jam Ikramullah Dharejo; Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab; Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah; IG Police; and senior officials from the Sindh Government and Pakistan Navy.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Minister welcomed attendees and reaffirmed the Sindh Government’s full support for PIMEC 2025, once again highlighting its strategic importance in advancing Pakistan’s Blue Economy and attracting global collaboration and investment. He stated that the event will spotlight Pakistan’s maritime strengths and reinforce its position as a regional hub.

Mr. Shah praised the Pakistan Navy’s leadership and professionalism, noting that maritime growth will open new opportunities for employment, trade, and economic resilience. He called upon all stakeholders to work closely together to ensure the Expo’s flawless execution, aiming to set new benchmarks for international maritime cooperation.

During the second session, chaired by Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, participants reviewed progress on administrative, logistical, and security preparations. Detailed briefings were provided about coordination between federal and provincial departments, law enforcement agencies, and event partners.

Vice Admiral Abbasi announced that PIMEC 2025 will include a Maritime Exhibition, International Conference, Cultural Show, and Business Engagements—offering a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, and investors to explore technological innovations and partnerships in the maritime sector.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring PIMEC 2025’s success, aiming to highlight Pakistan’s maritime potential, foster global connections, and strengthen the country’s reputation as a progressive and innovative maritime power.

The Chief Minister directed all civic agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed well before the Maritime Expo, emphasising improvement of access routes leading to and from the Expo Centre.

Mr Shah instructed the Traffic Police to develop an efficient traffic management plan and designate special routes for delegates travelling between the airport, hotels, and the Expo Centre, ensuring that visitors face no inconvenience during the event.

The chief minister also advised authorities to prepare alternate routes for city residents to minimise disruptions, noting that while citizens may experience some temporary inconvenience, Karachi takes pride in hosting the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference, a prestigious event that highlights the city’s growing role in the national and regional maritime landscape.
