Quetta, October 12, 2025: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, the provincial government has achieved a historic milestone in the education sector. Led by Provincial Minister of Education, Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, 3,144 out of 3,862 previously inactive schools have been reactivated, bringing educational opportunities to more than 81,000 children across the province.
This achievement marks an unprecedented success in Balochistan’s history, with 81% of non-functional schools now operational. Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani stated that the province’s future is intrinsically linked to education, and every effort is being made to ensure that no child is left behind.
The initiative involved large-scale teacher recruitment and strategic redistribution of staff: 1,866 SB teachers were appointed in Phase 1, 837 contract teachers in Phase 2, and 86 teachers in Phase 3. Additionally, 290 schools were activated through staff reallocation, with support from NCHD, BECS, the Pakistan Army, and Deputy Commissioners.
Among districts, Pishin, Khuzdar, and Awaran reported the most remarkable progress, with Pishin registering 230 school reopenings and 10,076 new enrollments. Khuzdar recorded 7,394, and Awaran 6,529 new students, while remote areas like Zhob and Naseerabad also witnessed notable improvements.
The provincial government now aims to focus on school sustainability, essential facilities, and consistent teacher availability, cementing this initiative as Balochistan’s most extensive educational revival effort—a tangible step toward a knowledgeable, empowered, and progressive province.
