Islamabad/Quetta, October 12, 2025 — The three-day Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival concluded in Islamabad with vibrant cultural performances, exhibitions, and overwhelming public participation, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of Balochistan’s cultural identity and tourism potential across Pakistan.

The closing ceremony was graced by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail as chief guest, while a large number of federal and provincial dignitaries, foreign guests, diplomats, tourism experts, students, and citizens attended the event.

The festival, organized under the supervision of Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Tourism, and Archaeology Nawabzada Mir Zareen Magsi and Secretary Sohail Rehman Baloch, was successfully executed by the department’s energetic team led by Dr. Dawood Khan Tareen (Director Culture), Hashim Khetran (Director Tourism), and Jameel Baloch (Director Archaeology).

Highlighting the significance of the event, Nawabzada Mir Zareen Magsi said that the extraordinary public response has boosted his team’s morale, reaffirming their commitment to actively promote tourism and cultural revival in Balochistan.

> “The success of this festival proves that Balochistan is a land of peace, culture, love, and hospitality. This event marks the beginning of a series of similar initiatives that will continue across Pakistan to showcase the province’s true, positive, and prosperous image,” said Magsi.

 

He further revealed that a comprehensive and sustainable tourism policy is being developed to ensure continuity of projects regardless of future political transitions. “The growth of tourism will create countless employment opportunities for Balochistan’s youth and strengthen the province’s economic base,” he added.

Magsi also extended gratitude to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Governor Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhail, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, and provincial ministers Mir Asim Kurd Gilu and Jamal Khan Raisani, along with officials from Lok Virsa, various provincial departments, and the Culture and Tourism Directorate team, for their support in making the event a success.

One of the festival’s highlights was the revival of live theatre in Balochistan after 25 years, featuring powerful performances of classic tales including Hani Shah Mureed, Vilayati Mehman Desi Mizban, Mast Taukli, and Beemer. The plays beautifully portrayed Balochistan’s hospitality, traditions, cultural diversity, and social challenges.

Speakers at the closing ceremony hailed the festival as a landmark event in Pakistan’s cultural and tourism history. They said it was the first time Balochistan’s traditions, handicrafts, natural beauty, and people’s skills were showcased so comprehensively in the federal capital, projecting a vibrant and peaceful image of the province.

Governor Mandokhail and other dignitaries commended the Department of Culture and Tourism for its professionalism and dedication, expressing hope that such initiatives will continue in the coming years to make Balochistan a national and international tourism hub.
