Khyber (By Aman Ali Shinwari)
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders on Saturday announced that Sohail Afridi will be the next Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that the party has the required numbers and no political maneuver can stop his election.
Addressing a crowded press conference at the District Press Club Khyber, PTI leaders Haji Zarbullah alias Haji Baba, Haji Azmat Ali Shinwari, Chairman Sajad, Jafar Shinwari, Dr. Faizullah, Farid Shalmani, Ali Afridi, Haji Kamal Shalmani, Rehan Afridi, and others expressed their full support for Sohail Afridi, terming him the rightful candidate nominated by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
They said that for the first time in history, a tribal youth has been nominated for the province’s top office, which is a matter of pride for the entire tribal belt. They dismissed PML-N leader Atta Tarar’s statement as “nothing but jealousy and political bias,” asserting that Sohail Afridi was chosen purely on merit by Imran Khan.
The leaders added that opponents are unable to digest this historic decision and are attempting to create obstacles through political tactics — all of which will ultimately fail.
They described Sohail Afridi as an educated, peaceful, law-abiding, and principled political worker and rejected all allegations against him as baseless and fabricated.
“Voices rising from Punjab are not statements of truth but part of a deliberate campaign to malign tribal communities,” they said. “Using the law against the weak will be seen as an attack on democracy itself.”
Concluding the press conference, representatives of all Khyber tribes — including Shinwari, Afridi, Mullagori, and Shalmani — reaffirmed their complete unity and unwavering support for Sohail Afridi’s nomination as Chief Minister.
