— Independent Report
Quetta, October 14, 2025:
Under its ongoing special inspection campaign, the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) conducted an extensive crackdown against the sale of substandard, unhygienic, and unsafe meat across various areas of Quetta city.
Inspection teams from the BFA visited Gowalmandi Chowk, Khuari Road, Sirki Road, and other key locations, inspecting a total of 81 beef, mutton, and poultry shops. During the inspections, 15 shopkeepers were fined for poor hygiene, display of low-quality meat, and violations of food safety regulations, while several others were issued warning notices.
According to the BFA spokesperson, ensuring the availability of safe and high-quality food for the public remains the authority’s top priority. The ongoing campaign aims not only to curb the sale of substandard meat but also to raise awareness among vendors about cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards.
The spokesperson further urged citizens to carefully check the freshness, color, and quality of meat before purchasing, and to report any violations or complaints to the BFA Complaint Number 0333-4664507 or through the authority’s official social media platforms for prompt action.
